Today I fancy sharing a nonmeat dish so I cooked Dhaba style Daal Mash, this daal not cooked quite as frequently as others in my house, but one that my father and father-in-law love to eat. This is immensely popular throughout Pakistan and is cooked with onions, tomatoes, and spices. Daal is a wonderful side to serve alongside any non-vegetarian dish to tone down the meatiness as well as get a greater variety of goods into the body.
Ingredients
Dhaba Style Daal Mash
Directions
If you're short on time you can make it in the pressure cooker. Delicious, creamy daal cooked in a typical onion and tomato masala and served with hot chapattis (bread).

Wash your daal and soak it in the warm water for 30 mins. Prepare your masala ingredients as shown in the picture

Heat your pressure cooker and add oil, once the oil is hot add onions and saute them. Now add ginger, garlic paste, green chilies, and turmeric (I'm using fresh turmeric you can replace it with turmeric powder). Saute them and add tomatoes and dry masala ingredients. Cook them for 1-2 mins once tomatoes are mushy.

For 1 cup of daal add 1 and 1/2 cups of water to the masala. Strain the daal and add it to the masala. Close the lid of the pressure cooker and put weight. When it starts to whistle, let it whistle for 3-4 mins and turn off the heat.

Garnish it with thinly sliced ginger and green coriander and sprinkle some garam masala.
